Workplace Wellbeing Charter

The links between employment and improved health are well documented. There is also strong evidence to show how having a healthy workforce can reduce sickness absence, lower staff turnover and boost productivity - this is good for employers, workers and the wider economy.

Supporting our employees within the workplace is a key priority for Birmingham City Council, and we have therefore pledged our committment to the Workplace Wellbeing Charter to help us protect and improve the health of those who work with us.

The Workplace Wellbeing Charter is a statement of intent, showing our commitment, and can support Birmingham City Council through:

  • The ability to Audit and Benchmark against an established and independent set of standards – identifying what we already have in place and helping us to identify areas we can continue to improve the health, safety and wellbeing of your employees.
  • Developing strategies and plans  provides a clear structure we can use to develop health, safety & wellbeing strategies and plans
  • National recognition – a robust and evidence based award process. With over 1,000 organisations across England holding the award, The Workplace Wellbeing Charter is now widely recognised as the business standard for health, safety & wellbeing across England.
