Welcome to Birmingham Population.  Demographics and data relating to the health and wellbeing of the citizens of Birmingham.

Birmingham is the largest local authority in Europe and the UK’s second city.

  • Most recent ONS mid-year estimates 2015 suggest the current population is 1,111,307.  
  • GP registrations as at April 2017 suggest the population is 1,244,438. 

The city has a younger population, a more diverse background and higher than average levels of deprivation compared to the rest of England. 38% of the total population is aged between 0-25.  22% of residents were born outside the UK.
